This isn’t just another classic motorcycle. This is one of the machines that helped define the golden age of Japanese superbikes.

Built when litre bikes were raw, mechanical and completely free of electronic rider aids, the Yamaha FZR1000 Genesis EXUP was Yamaha’s flagship road-going superbike—a machine created to deliver serious performance with the stability and confidence needed for fast European roads.

At its heart is a mighty liquid-cooled, five-valve-per-cylinder, inline-four Genesis engine. Yamaha’s ingenious EXUP system uses a valve within the exhaust to help produce strong torque lower down while allowing the engine to breathe freely as the revs rise. It was cutting-edge technology at the time and helped give the FZR its famously broad, muscular power delivery.

That engine sits inside Yamaha’s race-inspired aluminium Deltabox frame—a design developed to combine strength, low weight and precise handling. Yamaha describes the original FZR1000 as the first large-capacity motorcycle to receive an aluminium Deltabox frame. Together with its full fairing, unmistakable endurance-racing style and iconic white, red and blue colours, it made the FZR1000 one of the most desirable superbikes of its generation.

No traction control. No riding modes. No launch control. Just a throttle, a five-valve engine and one of the most exciting analogue superbikes ever to wear the Yamaha badge.

This example has covered 36,000 miles and has just three former keepers recorded. Even more impressively, its last owner kept the bike for an incredible 25 years.

After spending approximately 12 years in storage, it has recently undergone an extensive recommissioning to bring this legendary machine back to life.

Please remember that this motorcycle is approximately 36 years old. Although it is presented in excellent condition for its age and has undergone extensive recommissioning, it is a used classic motorcycle and must not be mistaken for a brand-new or fully restored machine.

Age-related marks, cosmetic imperfections, wear and signs of previous use should be expected. Mechanical components may require ongoing adjustment, servicing or maintenance consistent with the ownership of a classic motorcycle.

The motorcycle is offered as seen. No warranty or guarantee is given or implied. Entrants should examine all available photographs, videos and vehicle information carefully and satisfy themselves as to its age, specification and condition before entering.

The winner will be responsible for collection, insurance, tax, registration requirements, future servicing, maintenance and all associated running costs.
